The Internet serviceman has definitely changed by leaps and bounds since Adams wrote his piece in 1999. What was a novel networking system has become a necessity today. No longer is the internet a costly technology that doesnt work yet. In fact, todays university generation is not familiar with a world without Internet. They rely on it for all facets of life, and are lost when it is down or inaccessible. It is the affiliation that binds them to information and communication at an instant.



The more technical improvements pass off the capabilities of the internet, the more it is desired. However, as the love affair between the substance abuser and the Internet grows, so too does the worry. With the benefits of increased information accessibility and connectivity, comes the risks of privacy infringement.

I do agree with Adams that the problem is a generational one. When the Internet and all the perks associated with it were new, the generational gap did nurse a big impact on how people certain the new technology.
