In This taste I am going to write comparing the tragedies of the characters in The Last Night and Refugee Blues. The Last Night is an extract from a book called Charlottes Grey indite by Sebastian Faulks. Refugee Blues is a poem written by W.H Auden.
Compare the portrayal of casualty in The Last Night and Refugee Blues Both poems spill the beans about the misery of the Judaic people being hunt down down by the Nazis for what they believe in. Refugee Blues focuses on the accident of being Jewish and provokes sympathy at their impossible situation. also the Last Night also focuses on the innocence of the Jewish people; it shows two little boys in their last moments of liberty and shows how the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong beat would lead to their deaths. The portrayal of misfortune is initiated in Refugee Blues through both language and content. The poem is written to the tune of the Blues which initiates a thought of melancholy vocalise this city has ten million souls, Some are liveness in mansions, some are supporting in holes: similar closely Blues songs and poems it is written about a time where African Slaves sang these songs to express their sad, tragic and hatred lives.
Refugees colour theme is more based on rejection, the refugee couple living in most likely England is rejected throughout their move to find a home, job and food. The characters in Refugees Blues are hostile towards the refugee couple and illustrates the hatred the people have against the refugee couple. The Last Nights theme was based on isolation, discrepancy and separation.
