Introduction
Power is defined as the world index to get someone to do something you deprivation done or the ability to make things happen in the way you want them to. (Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2005). Within an organization, managers derive power from various sources such as through the use of manipulation or coerciveness. Power gives an individual access to control his/her subordinate; the employee believes the manager has the office and thus will obey. However, some leaders will produce power at the expense of morality. From examples in bill, we have seen how power can increase ones moral hypocrisy.
Historic Examples of Power and Corruption
perhaps one of the most tendinous and corrupt figures in history is Adolf Hitler.
We all know Hitler as the leader of the Nazi companionship of Germany, which was responsible for the deaths of millions of Jews. How did such an evil man, become so powerful? In 1918 Germany surrendered and Hitler was very upset about the loss. He believed that it was the Jews and the Communists who betrayed the homeland and it was here that his disliking of the Jews most likely began.
Once he go up to power, he vowed to eliminate the Jewish race from the European continent. Adolf Hitler came into power with his oratory skill but he also utilize another technique. He exploited the anti-Semitic and nationalist feelings of his countrymen. This evolution would lead to genocide of millions of Jews, which we recognize as the Holocaust.
The most infamous immoral action of Hitlers Nazi Party was not the use of concentration camps, but the medical experimentation that was performed on Jews. more or less of these medical experiments included nerve regeneration, sterilization, and poisoning of infants and children (www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org).
