Journal 3: Singing in the Rain
I really enjoyed watching Singing in the Rain again. My first time seeing the movie was in the twelfth grade. I really wasn’t focused as much or remembered some of the scenes. Usually I’m not interested in musicals but this has got to be whiz of the best I’ve ever seen. It captures the interest of someone who would not generally be attracted to a musical.
I love how the disruption scene starts out with sarcasm then there is an ready sense of humor. For the first time I actually notice specific ele custodyts in a guide such as the editing, mise en scene, and cinematography. The best mise en scene theoretical account was the flashback when arrogate Lockwood states that he learned everything he knew from his parents and the best dancing schools. The flashback shows him as a child dancing in dirty share halls with Cosmo. Another interesting example of mise en scene that caught my spunk was another flashback scene—when Don and Cosmo reach Hollywood. The background is unendingly changing and showing different cities and towns.



It lets the audience know the men have traveled far performing different acts— essentially to show the passing of time.
The sound editing comes into play the roughly when Don Lockwood narrates the flashbacks and gives details on what was going on. The best example was when it showed him being embarrassed as a child even off after he says the quote, “Dignity, always Dignity.” The cinematography is recognized when it shows a medium shot of a billboard that advertises the horror film the boys sneak into.
