Writing
argumentative essays is boring especially if it has to be examined by
a teacher. Some teachers feel they know so much and they usually mark
the students’ essays on their opinion basis even when the student
has provided enough evidence on his or her opinions. The teachers may
not have performed any research on the students’ college argumentative topics
and will apply the general knowledge that has no basis in marking the
essay. This habit of teachers has made the students dislike writing
such essay because no matter how well they research on the topic
these will not be enough to earn marks.
Some of the students write
also, what they know and they do not research because they feel it
will not add anything good for them. Teacher should therefore take
their precious time to research on all the students’ topics to
verify whether the points that the students have given are truly
genuine or not. The teacher will also be able to help the students
with additional points because as they research they will find other
points, which they can share with their students. The corporation
between the students and the teachers will make learning enjoyable
and the students will not feel lazy to research on their topics.
Teachers should provide a good environment for students to learn and
gain knowledge but not discourage them. The teachers should also
bring some of the argumentative essays to be discussed or debated in
class if they feel that the topics are valuable in the lives of the
students. As they debate in class the students will be able to know
well how to argue better the next time they will be writing
argumentative essays and how to give strong opinions and points of
view.
