Molly Brant

Molly Brant played a leading federal agency in persuading the Iroquois Confederacy to support Britain during the Revolution that is why she deserves a stamp. Molly Brant was born Degonwadonti (which means Two against one) in 1736. She was a strong Mohawk woman who lived during the era of the American Revolution. Her Brother name was Joseph Brant and they were both christened at meet Hunter, another Mohawk village. Even thought they were Christian they grew up in very anglicized village. With this information the British, Mohawk and the Seneca planed an attack on the Patriots and their assort Oneida that was know as the Battle of Saratoga. After the Battle, in which Iroquois warriors fought on both sides, the Mohawk Valley became brutal. The Patriots and Oneidas retaliated by destroying Canajoharie, which was Brants home. Brant fled to Onondaga, the Iroquois outstanding for shelter. At Onondaga the Iroquois held a council meeting to discuss which road they would mountain pass on. Most of the Iroquois favored the British, but after the battle of Saratoga, it didnt look like the British could win any more battles.
