English 102: Composition and Literature February 4, 2009 Alice handcart Walker realized her studies at Sarah Lawrence College and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965. She then moved to New York City and began manoeuvering for the upbeat Department. Later that year Alice married Mel Leventhal, a Je concupiscence cultured rights lawyer, they then relocated to Mississippi. Walker was married to Leventhal for ten eld; however this time was the most prolific in her career. She took a break in writing when in Mississippi and work for the civil rights movement. She then resumed her career when she joined Ms powder magazine as an editor before returning to California. Walkers first novel _The Third Life of Grange Copeland was print in 1970; six years later her second novel flush was published. In 1982 Walkers best known work was published The colourise Purple._ The novel has received numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the topic Book give, and was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award (Whitted).
Alice then published her autobiography _In Search of Our Mothers Gardens__ in 1983 and co produced the documentary Warrior Marks_. Alice Walker has also published various other misfortunate stories one of which is worth mentioning, _Everyday Use_. This short story is about a mothers conflicted family relationship with her two daughters.
